Dapeng Bay Taiwan

We are touring around Taiwan in April and want to find a nice beach (with some high waves) to chill out for a few days. We had originally looked at Kenting but on closer inspection, it seems very touristy, overcrowded, and full of neon lights and loud people looking to get drunk. Can anyone recommend Dapeng Bay?
I wouldn’t really recomend Dapeng Bay, because during April, many tourist visit. Kenting is not a place like you described. If you try going to Kenting on week days, it would be pretty good. I espacially recomend the hotel Ceasar Hotel and a local very traditional hotel, that had a lot of Taiwanese culture. There a beach 10 minutes away by walking, and is a good beach websites to visit http://www.caesarpark.com.tw/en/taipei.php

If you have a US passport and you’re staying in Taiwan for no more than 30 days, then you don’t need to apply for a VISA. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1036.html

best time for Taiwan holiday

Posted on 29th November 2008 by admin in taiwan holidays - Tags:

Spring is from Which month to which month? Autumn is from which month to which month? Which month we should not go Taiwan?
I would say the best time is late Autumn, probably November. The weather has cooled down a bit (but is not cold) and it’s usually fairly dry that time of year. Also, there are no major holidays at that time, so prices should be reasonable and things won’t be so crowded (well, things are always kinda crowded here but some times are worse than others). Early spring, around March, can also be good, but it tends to rain a lot. As someone has already mentioned, summer is HOT. Plus schools are off, so tourist sights get jam packed. The other time to avoid is Chinese New Year (it changes based on the lunar calendar, but usually around the end of January and beginning of February). Everyone is on vacation, so flights are much more expensive and many businesses completely shut down. Also, remember the interior of the island is generally cooler than the coast, so much of it depends on what you will be doing. Enjoy!!!

Xitou Natural Educational Area Taiwan

Sitou is located in the Phoenix hill of Lugu village, and is embraced by mountains from three sides. Its name is derived from the Chinese meaning: the origin of the river (Bei-Shi River). Sitou has plenty of rains, and is cool and moist all the year round. Therefore, it is one of the most famous resort spots in summer and the most romantic place for new couples to spend their honeymoons. Sitou is part of the experimental forest belonging to the National Taiwan University, and here grows cedars, Chamaecyparis obtuse, red spruces , Phyllostachys edulis, and many other different kinds of trees. Except for a small well-preserved natural broad-leaves forest, most parts of this area have been developed and cultivated purposely. Generally speaking, the feature of the forest here is beautiful and tidy. Here you can visit the unique pure Ginkgo forest, the rare plant of redwood, the divine tree 46 meter high and 16 meter broad and with an age approaching 3,000, Youth’s Activity Center, birds observing footpath, hotels, restaurants, camping area and so on. The University Pond, one of the representative sightseeing spots in Sitou, with an area of 0.5 chings and a depth of 10 meters, has limpid water and is a good place for taking pictures. There are over 7,000 varies of birds available in Sitou, which makes this place a good one for birds observing. River Blacks, White-ears Thrush, Redhead Warblers, Shao-Yen Thrush are representatives of low and middle elevation in Taiwan. Buildings in Shi-To are made of wood and have a smell of natural harmony.

Posted on 26th November 2008 by admin in taiwan holidays

Hi, I’m a indonesian citizen, Currently stay in shanghai at the moment I would like to know do i need a visa to visit taiwan for holiday (less than 14 days) ? I’m really appreciate for ur help Thanks
As an Indonesian citizen, it looks like you will have to obtain a visa for your stay in Taiwan. Nationals from countries that do not need to obtain a visa for a trip 30 days or less are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, *Japan, Republic of Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. and U.S.A. You can go to the visitor visa link below to see what you need to do to obtain one. The cost will be NT$ 1,200 for single-entry and NT$ 2,400 for multiple entries.

What should I definitely see if I visit Taiwan

I have a friend in Taiwan who has offered to let me stay at his house if I visit. I’m seriously considering it. I understand you can tour the whole island by bicycle, and that’s my speed. But what should I make sure to see and do while I’m there? What’s not to miss?
I suggest visiting the biggest city,Taipei, and east Taiwan is enough. Taipei is in the name of the modernization of Taiwan. East Taiwan stands for the natural beauty in Taiwan. In Taipei, Taipei101 is one of the important spot that you must go.It has a best view in the whole Taipei. And once the tallest building in the world. National Palace Museum, which collects much more Chinese treasures than Beijing’s.Every foreigner can’t miss it. These are the most important spots that you can go.You can just walk around the Taipei streets and enjoy the feelings. East Taiwan,Taroko National Park has one of the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan. It is easy to talk.Talking does nothing. You have to experience it by yourself. I can just tell you the main place that you should go. If you still have a lot of time, you can go to the other three biggest cities,Taichung,Tainan and Kaohsiung. Taking “high speed rail” will be more convenient to arrive at the next city. By the way,Taiwan’s food is famous. You can go down to Tainan and its snacks are great. If you don’t have enough time,You can find it in Taipei’s” Shih-lin night market”,too.

Is it worth visiting Kaohsiung during my visit to Taiwan

Posted on 24th November 2008 by admin in taiwan attractions, taiwan holidays - Tags: , ,

I’ll be going on a package tour to taiwan for about 7days. The package includes Kaohsiung, and of course those attractions. I would also like to extend my stay in Taipei but is it worth extending my stay in Kaohsiung for some shopping? In fact what i wanted was to extend my stay in Taiwan to 2 weeks. So the last week i’ll be staying in Taipei. I was just wondering will a week in Taipei be very boring?!
This you have to see it’s Kaohsiung City or County. If city, it’s not worth as things in Kaohsiung City is almost the same as Taipei, only for some foods that may be different. In county, there are some foods item you can buy, like 龍眼花蜜 (Logan Honey), 芭樂 (palm fruit), 烏魚子 (squid’s egg) etc. You can buy some craft item, mostly on 葫蘆藝術品 (bottle gourd like craft) or 陶藝 (Kiln craft). Take the coach from Kaohsiung city near the train station (new) at Jiuru road 2. (Additional) It will not be boring if you stay in Taipei for 1 week, but really depends on what you like and what you interested on. There are so many places in Taipei that worth the visit and if you want more information, you can visit the website I provided below.
