National Revolutionary Martyrs Shrine
Built to honour the 330,000 men who lost their lives fighting for the Republic of China, the National Revolutionary Martyr’s Shrine is in itself a sight to behold. Situated in a tranquil spot on the slopes of Chingshan Mountain, the National Revolutionary Martyr’s Shrine overlooks the Keelung River.

But the best bit about the Shrine is the changing of the guard ceremony that occurs every hour. This intricate procession is definitely worth seeing, if only to marvel at the preciseness of the guard’s movements. These guards have received rigorous training to remain as motionless as statues while on guard – and of course many tourists can not resist the temptation to try to get them to move.
